Hi I'm Kerri
Good to hear that you want to live life clean and sober. The road to sobriety isn't a easy one but its a simple one. We Have to work at keeping this disease from killing us. Take one day at a time. To remain teachable, and to know you are not alone.

hi all
I am a schick shadel graduate still with me! been through a number of different treatment centers have had long and short term success.
one of the most helpfull bits of info was about co acuring disorders(depression in my case) addressing all issues is a must for me just being aware of this has been a great help.
the anoying thoughts are also a threat (I'm cured I can have just a couple and so on) I can talk myself into anything! but I can talk myself out of things also! (the voices are liar's ha ha)
I also found out that feeling that i need a drink or slam or hit or??? could be stoped by food was I just hungry all those year's ha ha I rarely ate!
sure making up for it and a LOT of other things in life now!
Any other ssh grads out there? feel free to contact me
Tony

Back again on this sight as a "newbie"...desperately need support but also people to call me out on my bullshit as you get to know me...lord knows my parents are of no use...long story...had a great meeting tonight and the bubble burst when I got home and accused of using, or attempting to get meds, since my primary doc left this message on my voicemail that was completely off base and full of misinformation...
Need help/support/whatever...

Yes this is all very new to me but I must say that I have attempted this feat many, many times. I am 47 yr.old and have been attempting this thing for about 20 yrs. My problem has always been isolation, so for me,making this statement online and knowing that I wont be judged is something very special. Hope I get to share with some of you warriers. That is truely the magic of staying sober and sane.

|
Hi everyone, just a quick introduction from maruzella: just joined this site and am finding my way around here.
This must be my third year on a row when I'm trying out a sober life -- I usually go for 5-6 months and then decide it's "boring"..... but this time I've realized that that's just an excuse with which I give myself a permission to drink, rathen than facing the fact that I simply cannot have one drop of alcohol.
Things have happened this past year that have made me believe that this time I'm not just trying this out, but want to make a commitment. I'm willing to share my story and would love to hear yours. Feel free to pass by my profile and let's get to know each other. Best of luck to you all.
Love, M

Hi Krista,
Hang in there. Im new to this as well. Back in April I got my 1st DUI and had to ware a scram device on my ankle.
The hardest part about recovery for me is finding social "sober" outlets and activities.
I found a great article on this topic I wanted to share with you. I posted it in the form but if you did not see it here it is:
ALCOHOL FREE SOCIAL LIFE:

Happy NEW YEAR to all those who are struggling with recovery.
God bless,
Laurel
