Hi, my name is Andrew and I'm an alcoholic.
I stopped using drugs and alcohol on October 16, 2006. Now sober, I sometimes struggle with who to spend time with and how to spend my time. Most everyone I knew growing up and throughout college drank socially. I took it one step further. Now, in the workplace negotiations are oftentimes conducted over drinks. I've found the isolation continues to be one of the most difficult aspects to overcome in my sobriety. I began building Sober Social in an attempt to create a sanctuary for those working to stay sober. This site is a powerful component in my sobriety and I hope it will become an integral part of your life as well. Exploring other member profiles, blogging, chatting, sharing in forums and listening to inspirational speakers are all steps I've taken in my attempt to stay sober and create a new life free of drugs and alcohol. Sober Social also provides a vehicle for those ready to reach out and offer help to others sharing similar struggles.
Sober Social is a place where the alcoholic or addict's friends and family can compare experiences and educate themselves about diseases like alcoholism. Sometimes when in the midst of crisis, having a place to share anonymously with those fighting the same demons can be invaluable. The feelings of isolation can be overwhelming for family and friends as well.
Sober Social is an online community for recovering alcoholics and addicts who have chosen to live a life without drugs and alcohol. Sobriety is a challenge; no one should go it alone. Our worldwide community is a place to meet like minded people who share your priorities and daily pursuit of a clean and sober lifestyle. Sober Social also welcomes supportive friends and family members who are standing by us in our sobriety. Acting as a meeting ground for alcoholics and their loved ones from around the world, Sober Social offers a place to communicate with existing friends while making new ones. Nationwide meeting directories, information on sobriety, and audio speaker downloads are a few of our community's features.
You are not alone . Join us online in our efforts to strengthen our sobriety daily.
